DeadStick Ice Fishing
What to Expect

What to Wear
Clients should prepare for very cold weather and wear boots that are rated for cold temperatures. Thick socks are recommended. Wool is far superior to cotton. Dress with a base layer, then a loose medium layer, and a thick layer with a shell if possible.
There will be a heated shelter but transport back and forth to parking may be cold.

What We Provide
DeadStick Fishing provides top-quality gear, including tackle, auger, and custom-built fishing rods for clients to use during their excursion. We will also have a cozy warm shelter with a heater.
We ask clients to please provide their own food and beverages.

What We Fish For
Our expert guides primarily target Arctic char, rainbow trout, burbot, pike, chinook kokanee, and lake trout.
We practice catch and release for native fish species. For stock fish and non-native species, we will filet and bag fish for you to take home. We do not offer processing or shipping of fish at this time.
Call to address proper attire for cold weather conditions or packing list.

FAQs
1 / Where are we fishing?
Guides will coordinate meeting location with each group ahead of your tour. Expect to receive a location pin where you will meet your guide. All tours are run in the Matanuska-Susitna borough of Alaska.
2 / What should I bring?
Make sure to dress warm with thick boots, wool socks, and layers. Bring any desired food or beverages as DeadStick does not provide food/drinks on our tours. Don't forget your fishing license!
3 / How cold will it be?
Winter temperatures can range from highs in the 20s F (-5°C) to lows near 10°F (-12°C), and occasionally sub-zero temperatures. Tours will have a cozy warm shelter and heater provided but we advise clients to dress warm for these conditions.
4 / Is alcohol allowed?
We allow clients to bring their own beer or wine to their ice fishing excursion. Please consume responsibly as driving conditions off the lakes can be icy!
